Antimatter Dimensions Complete Beginner''s Guide 2026: From Dimension 1 to Eternity
Everything a new Antimatter Dimensions player needs to know: dimension mechanics, first 10 ascensions strategy, best early dimensions to focus on, and the 2026 meta for new players.
Antimatter Dimensions is one of the deepest idle games ever made. It is also one of the most intimidating for new players: there are no instructions in-game, and the first hour can feel impossibly slow.
This guide covers everything a new player needs to start playing confidently: how Dimensions work, when to ascend, what to focus on in the early game, and how to avoid the common pitfalls that make first ascensions feel like a waste of time.
What makes Antimatter Dimensions different
Unlike Cookie Clicker, which has an obvious learning curve (click the cookie, buy buildings), Antimatter Dimensions hands you a screen full of numbers and an immediate question: what do I do now? The answer is not obvious, and the cost of guessing wrong is losing hours of progress.
The game rewards understanding the math, not grinding. A new player who reads this guide will be faster in their first hour than a new player who tries to figure it out alone.
The Dimensions
Antimatter Dimensions is structured around 8 Dimensions, each unlocked by reaching certain milestones.
First Dimension is your antimatter (the main currency). You start with it. It produces a constant stream of antimatter per tick. This is your only source of income in the early game.
Second Dimension unlocks at 1e40 antimatter (a very large number). It multiplies all your Dimensions. The multiplier is small at first but compounds: each Second Dimension gives a 1.05x multiplier to everything. Second Dimension is the most important Dimension in the entire game.
Third Dimension unlocks at 1e100 antimatter. It produces Third Dimension antimatter per second, which can be spent on Third Dimension upgrades. The Third Dimension upgrades are expensive but powerful.
Fourth Dimension unlocks at 1e200 antimatter. It produces Fourth Dimension antimatter per second, similar to Third but with different upgrade paths.
The fifth through eighth Dimensions are part of the post-Eternity game and require multiple ascension layers to unlock. You do not need to think about them during your first 20 hours.
For new players: push First and Second Dimensions as high as possible. Ignore the other Dimensions until you have completed at least 5 ascensions.
The ascension system
Antimatter Dimensions has the deepest ascension system of any popular idle game. Each ascension resets your current Dimensions but grants you permanent bonuses that compound across runs.
There are two layers of ascension.
Normal ascension happens when you click the “Dimension Shift” button. This resets your current Dimensions but gives you permanent upgrades that boost your next run. New players should do normal ascensions frequently, ideally as soon as possible.
Eternity is the bigger ascension that requires you to reach a specific antimatter threshold (1e4000 first time). Eternity resets everything but unlocks the second row of permanent upgrades and a new resource (Infinity Points). Most new players reach their first Eternity within 10 hours of active play.
Reality is the deepest ascension layer, unlocked after completing certain achievements in the post-Eternity game. Reality is what unlocks the 5th-8th Dimensions. New players should not worry about Reality for the first 50+ hours.
First ascension strategy
For your very first ascension, the strategy is simple: rush to 1e40 antimatter as fast as possible and ascend immediately.
Most new players lose time on their first run by trying to optimize too early. Do not try to optimize the first ascension. Just get to 1e40, click Dimension Shift, and start over.
The first ascension matters less than you think. It is a tutorial, not a real progression. The second through fifth ascensions are where you start to feel the games depth.
Second through fifth ascension strategy
From the second ascension onward, you can start to think about strategy. The key principles:
1. Push First Dimension to maximum early. First Dimension is your bottleneck. Every tick of antimatter comes from First Dimension. The faster your First Dimension ticks, the faster all your other Dimensions grow.
2. Push Second Dimension to maximum as soon as it unlocks. At 1e40 antimatter, Second Dimension unlocks. Get a few Second Dimensions as soon as you can afford them. Each Second Dimension is a permanent multiplier to everything.
3. Save up for costly upgrades. When you see a Dimension upgrade that costs more than your current production, save up for it. Do not buy cheaper upgrades in the meantime. The expensive upgrades are the strongest.
4. Ascend every 30-60 minutes in the early game. There is no benefit to staying in a run longer. Each ascension gives you a permanent boost that makes your NEXT run faster. The optimal cycle in the first 5 ascensions is to ascend every 30 minutes when active or every 1-2 hours when passive.
Common mistakes
The most common new player mistake is not ascending. New players get attached to their current progress and think ascending is “losing” what they built. In reality, ascending is the only way to make meaningful progress in this game.
The second most common mistake is buying the cheapest upgrades first. The UI of Antimatter Dimensions shows you the most affordable upgrades first. These are usually the weakest. Save up for the strongest upgrades even if it takes longer.
The third most common mistake is trying to optimize the late-game Dimensions before unlocking them. The 5th-8th Dimensions are not relevant to your first 20 hours of gameplay. Focus on First and Second Dimensions until you have completed at least 8 ascensions.
The end-game path
After 30 to 60 hours of active play, most players reach their first Eternity. Eternity unlocks a new currency (Infinity Points) and a new set of upgrades. The path from Eternity to Reality takes another 30-60 hours of play. The full game (Reality plus the post-Reality content) is several hundred hours.
The most important thing is to enjoy the journey. Antimatter Dimensions is one of those games where the slow middle is the most rewarding part. If you find yourself stuck at a certain milestone, look up the specific strategy in the Antimatter Dimensions wiki or ask on the community Discord.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the fastest dimension to push in Antimatter Dimensions?
First and Second Dimensions are your best early progression. First Dimension produces the bulk of your antimatter, and Second Dimension multiplies it. Push these two to the maximum for the first 4 to 6 ascensions. Third Dimension is much slower and is typically not worth focusing on until you have completed at least 8 ascensions.
When should I do my first Antimatter Dimensions ascension?
Ascend when your current antimatter gain stops doubling within 30 minutes of active play, or when you have unlocked all available Dimensions and reached the cost cap. For the first 5 ascensions, the rule of thumb is to ascend as soon as you unlock a new Dimension rather than waiting for faster ticks.
How long does Antimatter Dimensions take to fully complete?
The full game has 8 Dimensions, 14 Achievements (excluding the impossible ones), and a final Eternity run that resets everything for the true ending. Realistic completion time is 80 to 200 hours of active play. Most dedicated players hit Eternity within 60 hours, and the last 5% of achievements can take dozens more.
What is the best way to get ticks in Antimatter Dimensions?
Ticks speed is controlled by your Dimensions. First Dimension is the only tick of antimatter, Second Dimension multiplies all dimensions. So early-game ticks are bottlenecked by First Dimension. The fastest way to increase tick speed is to keep First Dimension as high as possible while doing ascensions frequently.
Is Antimatter Dimensions good for casual play?
Yes, Antimatter Dimensions is one of the best idle games for casual play. The early game progresses without attention. The active game rewards short 5-15 minute play sessions. The community on Discord is very active and the wiki has excellent guidance for new players.
